el Dopamine

el Dopamine
eL Dopamine started when Jeff Faulkner of the band Sleestacks saw new Boise resident John O’Neil play a solo show opening for John Doe at the Zoo/Bogies in late 1990. They made plans to get a group together, and played guitar together once or twice before scheduling a rehearsal with former Grind/Treepeople bassist Woody, and former Dirt Fishermen drummer Gavin. For the first rehearsal, neither Woody nor Faulkner showed, and Faulkner was sacked. Woody stayed in the group for a while, then exited when his wife couldn’t stand the band anymore. Bassist Mike Waite was stolen from the band Humorgod, and after a few out of town gigs and a recording session, Gavin bailed. In early 1993 a large drummer (Joe Hensley) was recruited from Canyon County [2C], an album was recorded, a record label aquired and dropped from, Anneliesa Balk rescued the album from oblivion, which sold briskly right up until it was panned in the local daily paper. Some press was garnered, some more out of town gigs played, many more gigs at neurolux played, and during those epic sets business at 10th street station boomed. Then, a 9 year break. Now, more music, and who knows what else.
